One of the most difficult calls you may have can be a vehicle accident involving several patients in an overloaded car or van. Removing the patients to provide care can become quite a challenge. As creatures of habit we tend to attempt to take all of them out of the doors.

     On Saturday Aug. 13, 2016 at 11:35 a.m. the Le Mars Fire-Rescue Department was called to 30405 Hwy 3, which is west of Le Mars for a house fire. The house is owned by Judy Lang of Le Mars and rented by Tim and Kari Tomlinson. No one was home at the time of the fire.

Waverly Fire Department is hosting the 138th Iowa Firefighters Association Annual Convention Sept. 6-11.

Mechanicsville Fire Department was paged out to a car fire on a Level B road after rains. Teens were following GPS to a detasseling site when the fire started. Submitted by Fire Chief Lonni Koch.

Greetings Firefighters,

     I have never had a problem finding topics to write about in my articles, especially the past year, and I don’t have a problem this month either. However, this is different as this will be my last as president of this great association. 

Red Willow Western Rural firefighters Nick Cole, Lane Cole and Coy Terry pull apart logs and debris and soak hot spots on an unattended campfire that spread into the nearby grass at the Hugh Butler Lake north of McCook. Luckily the area had received enough moisture at the time and the fire did not spread quickly.
